Ellen's Stardust Diner

I've been coming here since the mid 1990's. I have always enjoyed the place. Still do.

But . . .

I don't mind that they updated the decorations, made it more modern, and got rid of the bowling shirts and poodle skirts. It's less incongruous for a waiter or waitress to be singing current songs dressed in a more contemporary uniform.

Clearly people come for the entertainment, not the food. But the food should be decent, right?

My waffle fries were sensational, Drew liked his grilled cheese sandwich. But my patty melt contained a very bland patty. I suspect it was thrown onto the grill while still frozen, steamed rather than grilled because of the water content, and never properly seasoned.

Cross that item off the list.
