Jay and the Americans at the Ultimate doo-wop

Image
got the tickets for this show for free. great show. that's Jay #3. the first Jay was Jay Traynor, who now sings with the Tokens (they were on the bill too) Everyone thinks of Jay Black as "the" Jay. but he lost the rights to "Jay and the Americans" when he filed for bankruptcy a few years ago. I do love Jay Black, but it was nice to hear the hits without his potty mouth...

it's the little things

The flight home Saturday.  Leaving San Diego 12:30 PDT, arriving JFK 9:30 EDT.  Basically killed my whole day. When I booked the flight we were supposed to be on a 757.  Booked 7H, a bulkhead seat near the front of the plane, on the aisle. got to the airport, found out we were now on a 767, a larger plane, and that my seat assignment had changed. 38H, an aisle seat in the very last row of the plane. which actually worked out better....there was no one sitting int he window seat, I was able to spread out over both seats.

May gray and June gloom

sunny southern California? gray and rainy all day today.  my business meeting was in an office building with a great view of the harbor.  and dinner was in a great restaurant on the water, place called Island Prime.   I saw a pelican fly by as we were eating.

San Diego

so the plane landed, I collected my baggage and my rental car ... and did something I'd never done before.  I drove on a California Freeway! we don't have freeways in NY -- parkways and expressways and other highways, but nothing called a "freeway". I'm staying in Mission Valley.  It looks exactly like a suburb in New York or New Jersey except with palm trees. still, it's a different time zone...and I will get a chance to see some of the city tomorrow.

California, here I come!

Headed to San Diego for a business trip. I've never been to the West Coast.  Don't know if I'll get a chance to do any sightseeing.  I would like a momnet to stick my toes into the Pacific if I can, but.... Wish me luck.

Robin's rules for wrap skirts

Used to wear them all the time. But fashion and tastes change, so it's been awhile. It took one good wind this morning in my new skirt to remember the rules. (1) always wear a slip. (2) a judiciously placed safety pin will keep that slip under wraps. Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.0

June is busting out all over

It's June and the summer weather has finally arrived. Is there anything better? Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.0
