Today's theme is "your choice".


It's 1978. Jimmy Carter is President. Tip O'Neill is Speaker of the House.  Begin and Sadat signed the Camp David Accords, bringing peace between Israel and Egypt. The first Home Depot  has just opened in Marietta, Georgia. Resorts International opens a casino in Atlantic City, the first legal casino on the East Coast. We're watching Dallas, Taxi and WKRP in Cincinnati on TV and Annie Hall, Grease and Superman in the movies. Affirmed wins the Triple Crown and Pete Rose gets his 3.000th hit. Bucky Dent his a famous home run at Fenway Park, helping the Yankees clinch the American League East; they'd go on to win the World Series.  There's a new comic strip called Garfield, and anew candy called Reese's Pieces.

And this was our music.











Ahh....good times....

    Great bits of trivia from 1978. I didn't know that was when Home Depot opened for business. The 70s had some great music. I know all of your songs in today's line up. The Bee Gees and Barry Manilow were smokin' hot. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and for hitting the 4M dance floor, my friend.

    Yes, a good year. I knew all the songs; I haven't heard many of these in years. Between Copacabana (I had the Barry Manilow greatest hits LP back in the LP days and played it a lot) and Night Fever, I had a fun time with this set. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    Going to graduate school was a positive decision for me. I enjoyed the coursework, the presentations, the fellow students, and the professors. And since my company reimbursed 100% of the tuition, the only cost that I had to pay on my own was for books and supplies. Otherwise, I received a free master’s degree. found a new blog today. Love it. http://secret-squirrel.webs.com/index.htm I've posted there under various names over the last 10 years or so. it went from a sweet little board that was Pete Werner's hobby to ....well, a real nightmare. that a board devoted to all things Disney can be such a nasty, racist, childish (not childlike) place.... loving the inside scoop, though. Did I ever tell you how "songbird" was banned from the DIS? I was a poster in good standing for 3-4 years. Even booked my trips through Dreams Unlimited, back when Pete was careful to distinguish between the disboards as a hobby and Dreams as his business. Pete and Webmaster Alex were struggling with server issues, the disboards would go down more often than they'd stay up. then Pete announced cosmetic changes to wdwinfo.com, which feeds into the disbaords forum. Another “your choice” week. How about new music from icons of the 60’s and 70’s? Let’s start with Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous hit, “Bubbles Up”. The Rolling Stones released a new song in 2023, it’s called “Angry”. The surviving Beatles (with some  help from AI) released “Now and Then”. And then Billy Joel …    The AI effects in the video blew me away… A note about the AI effects … the Beatles used it to isolate John’s vocals on an old demo.  Billy Joel had a young man play the piano then superimposed his own face onto the image of the younger man.
