Wednesday Hodgepodge

This week's questions from Joyce:

1. Is a picture worth a thousand words? Elaborate.

Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words.  Much easier to show you a photo of something than to describe it.  But that's not always a good thing.  Words are powerful, too.  The way we describe something, the tone we set, can leave an indelible impression on our consciousness, on our soul.

Those of you reading my words understand this.  I use photography quite often, and you can appreciate the images.  but I also use my words, and that's what makes this blog all about me.

 2. Have you ever driven any part of the Pacific Coast Highway? If so what was your favorite stop? If not, is this sort of trip on your bucket list?

I've only been to California once, a four-day busienss trip to San Diego.  It's a beautiful area, the Pacific Coast is so different from the Atlantic.  I would have liked to have had the time to drive up the coast to explore. I really want to see San Francisco.

 3. How do the changing seasons affect you? As the seasons change do you find yourself looking more forward or backward? Which season-season transition bothers you most? Why do you suppose that is?

Yes, the change in seasons affects my mood, my outlook.  Winter into spring is hopeful.  Spring into summer is joyful.  Summer into fall is exciting.  But I don't transition well into winter.  I dislike the cold, the snow, the misery of the season.  I'm sure I'm not alone.  Look at how many holidays we have in winter, holidays that involve bright lights, music, comfort foods...

 4. It's your birthday and you get to pick the dinner menu. What are we having? Do you ever lie about your age?

Oh, that's a difficult question indeed.  first, the menu.  There are so many good choices.  Right now I'd choose Italian food.  Let's start with baked clams oreganata, then a small Ceaesar salad.  for the entree, let's do veal Franchese with a side of linguini in garlic and oil.  A nice prosecco will go good with this.  No dessert, we're having blackout cake and coffee later.

My grandmother always used to say "Age is just a number, pick one you like."  But no, I don't see the point in lying about my age.

 5. What's a life lesson you've learned recently?

I'm finally, after so many years, learning patience, learning that I don't have to take the bait, learning to keep a cool head and not allow myself to get upset over things I cannot change and dramas other people want to create.

 6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Jen started a new job this week.  It's a very different position than her previous employment.  she wanted to go into a differnet direction, and she surely has done that.  I am happy for her.

  2. I am still trying to learn patience with idiots. Don't think it is going to happen anytime soon.

  3. Hey, I'm stopping by from the Hodgepodge today. It's nice to "meet" you.

I like your answers regarding the changing of the seasons, and I agree with you about most of those feelings--especially winter!

I think a picture is worth a thousand words, too, but words are also nice.

  4. PCH is a nice drive in sections, but if you want to get someplace, the freeway is quicker. (PCH = Pacific Coast Highway)
