Saturday 9

Old Me

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to
answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: The Old Me (2020)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

We're bidding adieu to the old year with a song
about looking back.
Thanks for participating in Saturday 9 during 2023.

1) In this song, the lead singer thanks his younger self for everything he learned from past experience. What's something you learned in 2023?

We are all constantly learning.  Big things, small things.

One thing I learned was how to get two cats who don’t like each other to live together.

2) He admits he did some things he wished he hadn't. Did you do anything in 2023 you wish you could take back?

Yes, but I’d rather not talk about it.

3) This music video consists of old photographs. Do you have many photos lingering on your phone or camera? Or are you prompt about downloading them?

Cloud storage is my friend.

4) This week's featured artist is 5 Seconds of Summer, a band from Australia. Have you ever been to the land down under? If not, would you like to go?

Never been there.  It sounds like a fascinating place.  But it’s low on my bucket list, there are other places I’d prefer to visit first.

5) In 2020, when this song was popular, "murder hornets," aka the giant Asian hornet, were spotted for the first time in the United States. Are you afraid of bugs?

I’m afraid of bees, wasps, yellow jacks, etc. because they sting.  I’m so proud of myself for being able to deal with the yellow jack that got into my apartment last spring.

As for other bugs…if they’re outside, I say live and let live.  If they try to come into my house …I have Raid and I’m not afraid to use it.

6) Enough about 2020! Let's look back on 2023. Did you travel this past year?

Sadly, no.  We had too many other things happening.

7) What was the biggest purchase that you made in 2023?

Not a “purchase” per se, but when Drew and I decided to live together, we had to find a house and incur expenses to move and set up our new place.

8) What was your favorite book of 2023?

I re-read Anne Frank’s diary.  I’d read it as a teen.  Very different to read it with adult insight,

9) What are you looking forward to most in 2024?

My daughter is getting married in July.  Need I say more?

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  5. I don't mind bugs but prefer they stay outside. I need to reread Ann Frank, thanks for the reminder. I try to reread or catch up on missed classics every year.

  7. #1 Whoa, getting cats together is a great accomplishment.
#4 The flight to Australia would be too long for me to fly, it would probably be most of the day in the air.
#9 Congratulations on your daughter getting married this year.
