When you see an interesting  cloud formation, don’t wait to take the picture.  This was taken at the top of the first inning.  The clouds started to move midway through the inning, and by the second inning the sky was complete different. #skywatchfriday

  1. Four words that tell us something about your July? Hot, wet, hectic, fun.  And yes, I am going to leave it at  that, with no explanation. 2. Four of your favorite summer foods? corn, watermelon, hot dogs, ice cream 3. What were you doing at a quarter past four yesterday?  AM or PM?  In the morning I was sleeping.  In the afternoon I was working at my desk. 4. fore!, four letter word, four sheets to the wind, ten-four, 24/7, four eyes, these four walls....pick a 'four' phrase and tell us how you relate currently These four walls...I am so glad things are starting to get back to normal, I am tired of staying home and staring at the same four walls.  And I am fearful we may have to  reimpose restrictions... 5. Something you own that is four years old?  6. Insert your own random thought here.  Road trip next week, I am so excited to be going away!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Image
Saturday's outfit of the day:  blue capris, the t-shirt I bought in Cooperstown that salutes every Mets player who made the Hall of Fame, my Piazza jersey and my Mets ball cap. Time for the annual pilgrimage.  Welcome to Citi Field! Cross Roosevelt Avenue, under the tracks for the 7 train. Pay homage to the Home Run Apple from Shea. We entered through the main rotunda. We got our promotional item: The cooler is supposed to be large enough to hold a six pack.  I'm more likely to use it for a lunch. Citi Field has gone cashless this year, so Drew had to use a credit card to purchase his yearbook and score card, and for the food, of course. Nothing beats a Nathan's hot dog...except Nathan's fries. And I had to get a souvenir cup with my soda -- Pete Alonso was on the cup! The view from our seats The current home run apple (saw it before the game, never saw it again that night). Planes from La Guardia  right over the stadium that night  And it was Korean heritage night May

Another “your choice” week. At the beginning of the month I mentioned that my daughter loves fantasy, magic and fairytales. She gets it from her mother. I’m a geek, a nerd, a lover of all things magical and mystical. Lately I’ve been obsessed with dragons. So I’ve put together a play list, songs about dragons. Let's start with a song by Don McLean.  I don't know the movie that he wrote it for but the song is pretty. I remember seeing, and loving, the original Shrek .  Never saw any of the sequels.  As I recall, there's a wonderful dragon in that movie... You know there has to be a Disney song in here somewhere And some Celtic music Or some Finnish power metal Some Scottish music And  you have to include  some Game of Thrones And Harry Potter My daughters loved Quest for Camelot How To Train Your Dragon More Disney Some Ed Sheeran But we have to close it out with Peter, Paul and Mary

Saturday 9

Hello Mudduh, Hello Fadduh Welcome to  Saturday 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme! Saturday 9: Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (1963) Unfamiliar with this song? Hear it  here . 1) TV writer Allan Sherman based this song on his own son's letters of complaint from camp. Did you go away to summer camp? No, I didn't go away to camp. My dad was a teacher, and in the summer he had a second job as a head counselor at a day camp.  He'd spend the day working with a group of boys, teaching them baseball, basketball, etc.   My sisters and I got to attend the day camp all summer lon

another this and that

I feel so bad for Jen, her California adventure is not going to happen.  The friend she was planning to visit took sick, he may need surgery.  I hope he feels better soon. But Jen is so disappointed.  And I'm sure the fact that Becca and her boyfriend are in Disney World doesn't make it easier for Jen. Sigh... As for the Maryland road trip -- hotel reservations are confirmed, tickets to most of the attractions have been purchased.  As for restaurants -- we are both fans of Guy Fieri, and want to try some of the restaurants he featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives .  Fieri has been to a number of places in Maryland . We have to narrow down the choices ... I'm thinking someplace that does crabs... My neighbor is refilling his pool.  I guess he's going to try again.

Music Monday

Before we get started on today's theme, I want to refer back to Friday's post about Harry Chapin . Harry was a great artist, activist and humanitarian.  If you want to honor his life I invite you to contribute to  Long Island Cares -- the Harry Chapin Food Bank. And today's theme?  Songs about animals. Animals like lions...and tigers...and bears.... Lions And tigers And bears Oh my... It makes you want to run through the jungle, doesn't it? But it's all part of the circle of life.

Saturday 9: Purple People Eater  (1958) Unfamiliar with this song? Hear it  here . 1) When actor Sheb Wooley brought this song to MGM Records, they initially rejected it, saying it just wasn't the kind of thing they wanted to be associated with. Then executives discovered how popular the audition recording was with the 20-somethings in the office. MGM released it after all and it became a #1 hit. Tell us about a time you were glad you changed your mind about something. My ex husband is my current bo
