My daughter is the best

 For Valentines Day she gave me the best gift.


An appointment to get the COVID vaccine.


Seriously. 


She previously got appointments for my mother (age 88) and for Drew (teacher).  I become eligible tomorrow, since NY is now allowing those with co morbidities to be vaccinated.  And this morning Jen found an appointment for me.

    My first cousin (in her 70's and in remission from breast cancer) in Queens can't get an appointment. I tried to help her after she had basically given up. It's quite an experience. Right now the state sites are overwhelmed. I have the greatest of respect for "vaccine angels" like your daughter. It's a hard job trying to help one person (I wa also trying to help an inlaw up here who also became eligible today) never mind several, again, like your daughter. The local inlaw, btw, finally got an appointment this morning for April - 200 miles from here. There is something so wrong with all this. I'm happy for you!!       I know what you mean. I have friends who can’t get appointments, I have a friend here on Long Island who has to go to Westchester in April. Jen was able to get appointments for my mom, Drew and Hen’s boyfriend’s mom on Long Island. My appointment is in two weeks, at the Javits Center. I have no problem traveling into Manhattan for this. Jen is amazing,

      Keep trying to get something closer for the in law, it can happen. Good luck.

      The good news is that another friend's son was able to get her and her husband appointments yesterday for mid March at Stony Brook (not on the same day, alas). And the in law was also able to get an appointment scheduled locally after hours of trying. I'm glad they got other help because I totally struck out!

found a new blog today. Love it. http://secret-squirrel.webs.com/index.htm I've posted there under various names over the last 10 years or so. it went from a sweet little board that was Pete Werner's hobby to ....well, a real nightmare. that a board devoted to all things Disney can be such a nasty, racist, childish (not childlike) place.... loving the inside scoop, though. Did I ever tell you how "songbird" was banned from the DIS? I was a poster in good standing for 3-4 years. Even booked my trips through Dreams Unlimited, back when Pete was careful to distinguish between the disboards as a hobby and Dreams as his business. Pete and Webmaster Alex were struggling with server issues, the disboards would go down more often than they'd stay up. then Pete announced cosmetic changes to wdwinfo.com, which feeds into the disbaords forum. Another “your choice” week. How about new music from icons of the 60’s and 70’s? Let’s start with Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous hit, “Bubbles Up”. The Rolling Stones released a new song in 2023, it’s called “Angry”. The surviving Beatles (with some  help from AI) released “Now and Then”. And then Billy Joel …    The AI effects in the video blew me away… A note about the AI effects … the Beatles used it to isolate John’s vocals on an old demo.  Billy Joel had a young man play the piano then superimposed his own face onto the image of the younger man.
