Another flashback -- the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in better days.

Earlier this week we got to see the USNS Comfort sail under this bridge and past the Statue of Liberty as she headed to Pier 90, the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.  A beautiful ship, she last visited the city after 9/11.  G-d help us that we need a hospital ship sitting on the Hudson.

You want pictures of the Comfort?  Check the news reports,  I stayed home.

  1. Beautiful photo. I saw your comment... My student loans are federal and no, the link is not up yet for deferral. That comment from Cuomo was stupid (I read the article)- as stupid is as stupid does. He hasn't a clue on what life is like outside his bubble. I better leave it at that.

I hope Drew is feeling better, if not and he is still running a temp, get him to a dr.

  2. He’s still sick, calling the doctor today. His best friend has the coronavirus. Sigh.

The link will work by the time your loan comes due.

What can you say about Cuomo, he grew up in NYC. Yeah, there are a lot of cows in parts of upstate, but that’s clearly an oversimplification.

  3. Pretty photo. Seeing USNS Comfort off your shore would invoke mixed emotions. Here's to better times!

  4. Only 20 patients on the Comfort? New York only has 20 non COVID patients in their city? A little hard to believe. Will hope for the best re Drew. Let us know, please. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. The mayor says there will be more patients on the Comfort soon. Meanwhile, the Javits Center will be used for Covid patients; it was supposed to be used for non Covid patients. I also hear there’s a plan to move some patients from city hospitals to facilities here on the island.

  5. Good choice to stay home. It was quite the site on the news passing the Statue of Liberty. My grandmother went through there as a young girl, I'm guessing at about six, when her parents immigrated from Norway back in the late 1800s. It must have been both impressive and scary rolled into one. - Margy

  6. We've got a hospital ship off our coast, too. Hoping we won't need it (but knowing we will).

    1. You’ve got the Mercy. And some nut job who tried to hit the ship with his train.
