Desperate Measures

So the newspaper had a contest.  they were giving away tickets for an Off-Broadway musical, Desperate Measures.

And by some stroke of good luck, Drew won a pair of tickets.

Yes, great seats, four rows back from the stage.

The website tells you about the show:

When the dangerously handsome Johnny Blood’s life is on the line, he must put his fate into the hands of a colorful cast of characters including a mysterious sheriff, an eccentric priest, an authoritarian governor, a saloon girl gone good, and a nun out of the habit. Before the sun sets, will they rise up and pull off the greatest caper yet, or will Johnny be left hanging?
This witty and wild new musical comedy takes the Bard’s Measure for Measure and shakes things up.

The play is set in the Old West, of course.  The audeince sees the set -- a saloon, a jail, etc....and then the show begins with one of the performers delivering a prologue in iambic pentameter.

Funny, funy play...

And who are these two characters, locked up behind bars?

I should mention that this show is one of several plays currently being presented at New World Stages, an off-Broadway venue that is located in the Theater District.  There's a lot of artwork hanging on the walls.  At first I thought they were  Hirschfeld prints. Turns out they aren't Hirschfelds, but rather, an artist named Ken Fallin who is doing original workss in the style of Hirschfeld.  A few examples:

  1. Drew's been winning a lot lately. Didn't he win tickets to something else not too long ago?

  2. Yeah, he won tickets to Escape To Margaritaville, right after we’d seen it.
