This is all grandy's fault!!!!!

Grandy blogged about cleaning her desk awhile back as she prepared to relocate to another desk in her office, and I laughed.

oh, the irony of that laugh.

two years ago my division went through a major reorganization, which resulted in many large departments being split into smaller, more manageable departments. my department was one of the affected departments, and I was assigned to the new department. in july 2007 the new department was relocated to a different floor.

well, 18 months later, we're going to relocate -- back to the floor where our former colleagues have remained. we're likely to be moving by the end of this month.

I have been with this company for 6 1/2 years. this will be the third time I've had to move, so I've weeded out some of the trash, but still...

  1. I've worked at the same place for 23 years. In that time span I've had 10 total office changes (give or take 1 or 2 that is just gone from memory). The majority of those (8 for sure) was between 1986-1996. I jokingly called myself the nomad employee over that time! I've had just three moves since '96 which is not bad for here. I particularly love when they do what you are experiencing and move you BACK to an original location.

  2. I've spent 25 years working for various law firms and insurance companies. In that time I've become adept at packing for a corporate move, I've done it 8 times for 5 different employers.

Ah, well, there are certain advantages to moving back upstairs.

  3. That's annoying! The question is how many packets of soy/duck/hot sauces are you going to unearth? :)

Hey, the captcha says 'addle'! All this moving around will addle the brain, lol!
