Ready or not, here comes college
So it's the middle of Becca's junior year, and time for her to start her college search in earnest. She's more than ready to begin the adventure, she's been talking about where she wants to go to college since the moment she walked through those high school doors at the beginning of freshman year.
I, on the other hand, am still recuperating from Jen's college search. I couldn't really get her motivated in her junior year -- all her friends were seniors that year, so "college" meant her friends were leaving her. Consequently, everything we did was rushed. I think she was happy with her final decision, but I don't think she allowed herself to explore all the possibilities before she made that decision, and I think I may have heard some rumblings about "transferring next year..." (Lord help me).
Becca is self-motivated and very bright. she's got good grades and will likely do well on the SATs. She's taking 2 AP classes this year and plans on taking 4 or 5 AP classes next year. She spent 2 years on dance team and earned a varsity letter, she's been a member of Key club for the last 3 years, and she's been a member (and now President) of the Spanish club, which is also a community service club(good leadership qualities). She's aiming very high -- maybe higher than she can reach. But then again, why shouldn't she? She's not quite sure what she wants to study when she gets to college -- something in the liberal arts or social sciences, I believe -- but she's got time to figure that out.
Deep breath, mom, it's going to be fine...I think.

They didn't tell you this, but that Lamaze breathing? It'll come in handy over the next 18 months!
