 Q is for quizmaster.




I have been a fan of Jeopardy!  since it was a daytime show hosted by Art Fleming.  I cried when Alex Trebek died.

And now I spend 5 nights a week watching Trebek’s heir host the game he once played.  Who could forget Ken Jennings’ remarkable 74 day winning streak?  Or his friendship with Trebek?  

Don’t misunderstand.  I like Mayim Bialik, she also does a good job hosting the show.  But Jennings is Trebek’s heir, he’s the one with the long-standing relationship to the show, he’s the one most comfortable on the Alex Trebek stage.  He’s the one I want to see when I turn on the tv and hear Johnny Gilbert announce: “And here is the host of Jeopardy!”

Watching Ken Jennings makes me happy.

    I like Jeopardy, but for some reason don't watch it anymore. I don't watch much TV, so there's the reason! Nice Q!

    Yes, nice "Q". I was in the audience at one of the original Jeopardys (with Art Fleming) in June of 1971. I've been a fan from the beginning. I was not totally sure of Ken Jennings at the beginning but he has grown into the role. And, one of my high school/college friends was a one time Jeopardy champion about nine years ago.     Yeah, I like how Jennings does the gig. I think it's fitting as he really couldn't win anything else. He might as well host. (And now he can't compete due to being associated with the show.)

    I also like trivia. Our local community theater the Pearl. Now has Trivial night. I haven't gone.

found a new blog today. Love it. http://secret-squirrel.webs.com/index.htm I've posted there under various names over the last 10 years or so. it went from a sweet little board that was Pete Werner's hobby to ....well, a real nightmare. that a board devoted to all things Disney can be such a nasty, racist, childish (not childlike) place.... loving the inside scoop, though. Did I ever tell you how "songbird" was banned from the DIS? I was a poster in good standing for 3-4 years. Even booked my trips through Dreams Unlimited, back when Pete was careful to distinguish between the disboards as a hobby and Dreams as his business. Pete and Webmaster Alex were struggling with server issues, the disboards would go down more often than they'd stay up. then Pete announced cosmetic changes to wdwinfo.com, which feeds into the disbaords forum. Another “your choice” week. How about new music from icons of the 60’s and 70’s? Let’s start with Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous hit, “Bubbles Up”. The Rolling Stones released a new song in 2023, it’s called “Angry”. The surviving Beatles (with some  help from AI) released “Now and Then”. And then Billy Joel …    The AI effects in the video blew me away… A note about the AI effects … the Beatles used it to isolate John’s vocals on an old demo.  Billy Joel had a young man play the piano then superimposed his own face onto the image of the younger man.
