 And I am pleased to be the honorary co-hostess this month.

My daughter Becca will celebrate her 29th birthday later this week.  She's a wonderful woman, smart, sophisticated, outgoing ... she works for a large company in Manhattan and has a lovely apartment in Sutton Place, having moved there from Hell's Kitchen a few years ago.

Her not-so-secret ambition is to be a Disney Princess -- unless Hogwarts sends her a letter.  

In Becca's honor, it's time for songs about fantasy, magic and fairy tales.

    I don't suppose I should be surprised to see "Do You Believe in Magic" more than once this morning. It is at the top of my playlist this week. Hear was a favorite of mine and Magic Man is a perfect fit for the theme. Have a blessed week.

    Happy upcoming birthday to Becca. No, I didn't know Billy Joel recorded "When You Wish Upon a Start". Nice video that accompanied it, too. "Do You Believe in Magic" brought back nice 60's memories. I hadn't heard Olivia Newton-John's "Magic" in a long time but my heart belongs to "Magic Man" (although, alas, it didn't have the ending of the album version). Very nice set.     What a fabulous birthday party this has been for Becca! I hope she enjoys all the music as well. Like Alana, I didn't know Billy Joel recorded "When You Wish Upon a Star" but I really like it.     Robin, What a fabulous theme you've chosen, and for your baby girl too! Awesome! I never heard the tune by Billy Joel. Awesome! Thanks for sharing that one especially. I haven't seen the original of magic man in ever so long. Wow, she was so young there (singer), and oh my "Do you believe in magic I haven't heard in a long time, and Young at heart too, and by Tony Bennett.. what talent, and I never heard that version of over the Rainbow. Awesome! All your tunes are really great. It's a shame Mirah Carey is more or less losing her beautiful voice, and she better watch that figure. This tune is one of my favorites that she sings. Olivia Newton John is another favorite of mine, and HARRY POTTER... LOVE IT... I wish there was more chapters for sure with all the same characters adding new ones like their children or something... I thought there was one... hmmmmmm anyway my friend thank you thank you thank you for a wonderful theme!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR BABY GIRL!!!! THEY'RE ALWAYS OUR BABY AREN'T THEY... found a new blog today. Love it. http://secret-squirrel.webs.com/index.htm I've posted there under various names over the last 10 years or so. it went from a sweet little board that was Pete Werner's hobby to ....well, a real nightmare. that a board devoted to all things Disney can be such a nasty, racist, childish (not childlike) place.... loving the inside scoop, though. Did I ever tell you how "songbird" was banned from the DIS? I was a poster in good standing for 3-4 years. Even booked my trips through Dreams Unlimited, back when Pete was careful to distinguish between the disboards as a hobby and Dreams as his business. Pete and Webmaster Alex were struggling with server issues, the disboards would go down more often than they'd stay up. then Pete announced cosmetic changes to wdwinfo.com, which feeds into the disbaords forum. Another “your choice” week. How about new music from icons of the 60’s and 70’s? Let’s start with Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous hit, “Bubbles Up”. The Rolling Stones released a new song in 2023, it’s called “Angry”. The surviving Beatles (with some  help from AI) released “Now and Then”. And then Billy Joel …    The AI effects in the video blew me away… A note about the AI effects … the Beatles used it to isolate John’s vocals on an old demo.  Billy Joel had a young man play the piano then superimposed his own face onto the image of the younger man.
