So today we've been asked to honor World Music Day with music from around the world.

Obviously, it's going to take me a while to get through this entire collection, but it is well done. I saw Gordon Lightfoot in concert and he was a gifted musical talent. I don't know until now or I could've just forgotten which is probably more accurate for me. :) You have a nice selection of tunes to listen to this afternoon and you didn't forget to include the US in the mix. Oh my gosh, some we both picked, some of my favorites & some I wanna hear right now. Woo Hoo! You really rocked the house & really picked some classics didn't you? Gordon Lightfoot to Paul McCartney.. great job. Oh my gosh, I haven't heard the singing nun in ages & oh my gosh Willy Nelson looks great in this video for sure but talk about two of the most unlikely pair Julio Iglesias! Dang! I love it. Now you have Dean Martin doing Volare & then Steve Martin doing a Hebrew song or is it Eydie Gormé who's doin' the lead. I mean those two phenomenal. Then you have Sukiyaki Kyu Sakamoto which I also picked I might add & then you have Los Lobos & LaBama dang.. do you have every tune from every country? WOW, YOU have definitely rocked the house here girlfriend!!! And last, but not least Allentown with Billy Joel... sheesh! What more can you ask for!?! Great job! YOU ROCK!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! Mum says she remembers Nena really well. It was a hit in the UK back in the day (so long ago now!).
ReplyDeleteWe were almost in tears when we heard Gorden Lightfood. She was 12 years old when she heard this song the first time, just emigrated to the Netherlands and really had a hard time to settle here. This song always touched her heart and still does. Great collection of World songs, Songbird, Nena is still singing with her band. We see her quite regular on television😸Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteA great job with many of my favorite songs from different times in my life. Wow, Miriam Makeba, that song and Pata Pata were some of my intros to music from around the world. Nena's song is one of a handful of foreign language songs that have made it really big in the States. La Bamba (the Richie Valens version) was another standout of my childhood.
