This and that
So I found my texting gloves, but as it turns out I don’t really need them…my new iPhone had a feature …there’s a button on the side of the phone that activates the camera. Click the button and the locked phone opens the camera app. Click again and you’ve taken a photo. Cool, huh?
So Wednesday night our TV was tuned to the tree lighting in Rockefeller Center. And we noticed snow flurries falling during the show. I looked out the window, but …nothing. However, when I woke up Thursday morning …
It was melted by mid day.
My pumpkins are still intact, but I suspect that will change soon. I’ve got bunnies and squirrels and raccoons visiting my yard, I’m sure someone will be hungry.
And yes, my Ring cameras make it interesting.
Though it’s also scary at times. There’s a discussion board in the Ring app, and every day someone posts a video of porch pirates or a trespasser on the driveway trying to get into cars. Good reminder to lock my doors …
You know how the TV show Law and Order claims their plots are ripped from the headlines? Well, here’s a twist on that! The murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson is starting to sound remarkably like an episode of the TV show that aired in 2002. In “Undercover”, a distraught parent killed a health insurance executive who had denied a child’s claim for a very expensive lifesaving treatment. Thompson was shot on the street on Wednesday, and by Thursday the police were reporting that bullets found at the scene contained words like “deny” and “depose”. Hmmm….
I have to say that, for the most part, I enjoy being a remote worker. I have a great home office set up, very comfortable and very “me”. But for most of my working life I was a person who suited up every morning, commuted to an office, and then commuted home after work. Whenever I get an attack of nostalgia, I have the option of driving to my office and occupying a cubicle. I did that yesterday, and it felt good. But I’m glad I don’t have to do it every day.
But I do miss NYC this time of year. As a suburbanite I can go into Manhattan and see the decorations, but it’s not the same as being there every day. Sigh.
I am not looking forward to Saturday. It’s our annual visit to the V-E-T. Last year’s visit was so much fun. Duchess caterwauling the whole time she was in the carrier …Shadow getting spooked by the big dogs in the waiting room … I’m sure I’ll have more to say on the topic after our visit …
Apparently there's a book about the health care industry that had deny and depose in the title. I think office work is much nicer when you don't have to go in every day.
