More Ramblings
New Jersey is the diner capital of the world, but Long Island ranks a close second. We know several good diners in our area. The other night we wound up at East Bay. What makes this diner different is its “under the sea’ theming.
Yes, those lamps are jellyfish.
I’m used to seeing airplanes overhead. But drones? The news has been reporting about mysterious drones overhead New Jersey and NYC. The other night on the Ring app, many people were saying that drones were spotted over Long Island, too. I saw a news article referencing “unconfirmed reports” of drones, though I didn’t see any or capture their images on my Ring cameras. Patch story. The state police say there’s no threat to the public.
Pet peeve, we’ve all been using email for two decades. Haven’t we all learned the difference between “Reply” and “Reply All”? Our HR person sent out a company-wide email that required each of us to respond to her …not to the entire compsny.
My health insurer just changed the requirements for approval for Wegovy. Again. I have no problem meeting the new requirements. But this is why people hate health insurance companies and why Luigi Mangione is becoming somewhat of a folk hero.
They’re saying Wegovy and Zepbound are curing the obesity epidemic. Considering all the health problems that come with obesity, maybe they should make those drugs easier to get, not harder. But what do I know, right?
I’ve been collecting interesting recipes for appetizers, thinking of doing an appetizer party for New Year’s. Saw a recipe that uses tater tots. You treat the tots as if they were tiny potato pancakes, you top them with a bit of sour cream or creme fraiche and a dollop of salmon roe, the kind you buy for sushi, instead of expensive caviar. But if I do real potato pancakes — and Bare Naked does them gluten free — I won’t do the tater tots. Maybe my crockpot sweet and sour meatballs?
Hard to believe we’re halfway into December and will soon turn the page on 2024.
I've been reading about "your" drones. Tater tots are like fries to me, as a side to a burger or something. Although, I haven't had any in years. My mother called them "potato poopies." I worked with a young woman who was telling me about cooking and asked me, "How do you make your tater tot casserole?" I said, "I don't" and she was shocked! Apparently it's a "thing" I knew nothing about!
ReplyDeleteApparently it’s a Midwest “thing”.
