Hurt So Bad
Saturday 9: Hurt So Bad (1980)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) Do you have any aches or pains this morning?
Sigh. Yeah, I have bad knees.
2) In this song, Linda Ronstadt complains that her ex doesn't get what she's going through. Have you recently felt misunderstood?
Yes.
3) Now let's put a positive spin on it: Is there someone in your life who gets you completely?
Yes, her name is Shadow.
4) Linda recorded a best-selling album in Spanish, and has also performed in French, German and Italian. How many languages do you speak?
My native language is English, of course. I studied Spanish in school, was fairly fluent for awhile, but since I don’t use it I’ve lost most of it. I took a year of Hebrew, I can sort of read it but don’t understand what I’m reading. And I know a few words and phrases in Yiddish,
5) Linda once dated George Lucas of Star Wars fame. Who is your favorite Star Wars character?
I saw the first Star Wars movie when it was released in 1977 and immediately fell in love with Han Solo.
6) Steve Martin has spoken affectionately about Linda and their romance in the 1970s. Are you a Steve Martin fan?
I think he’s very funny.
7) Linda worked consistently and successfully with record producer Peter Asher throughout the 70s and 80s. Tell us about someone you enjoyed working beside.
My first job after graduation. I worked with a woman named Carol. She was a mentor and a friend.
8) In 1980, when this song was popular, People magazine named author Stephen King one of the year's most intriguing people. Have you read any of his books or short stories?
I’ve read many of them, seen the movies … nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw Carrie because of the surprise at the end that wasn’t in the book. IYKYK.
9) Random question: Looking back on last week, would you describe it as exciting or boring?
My life is many things, but boring isn’t one of them. I live with a cat who thinks my potholders belong upstairs on the bed …
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
I remember standing in that long line to see Star Wars. I have seen all the movies and watch some on Disney Plus. Your cat, my dog, they rule the house. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI saw Star Wars back then, too. I was only 13 and standing in line...the anticipation...and then, WOW, the movie...there hadn't been anything like it before!
ReplyDeleteAh, cats! They do comfort us and keep us on our toes, don't they? Mine are my family.
ReplyDeleteI just adore animals. How funny about the potholders. I bet your cat keeps you entertained all of the time. I love it. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I remember seeing Carrie but don't remember the ending. That was a very long time ago and I only saw it once.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have interesting weeks. Sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean for #8. And I also thought Han Solo was so cool!
ReplyDeleteI see that my post came in as Anonymous above. I did teach the ladies about the Maccabees and the history about it. It is not found in the Chirstian bible either, but in the feast of Dedication was. I gave them a fact list on one side of a bookmark size cardboard and then gave them a sheet of graphics they could use to make decorate it. Our pastor says that it is good to check out World History events to see what was happening during Biblical historical time. Oil is another thing that was discussed. When I taught about Rosh Hashanah, we talked about how oil was used in the tabernacle as mentioned in the Old Testament, your Torah. We also discussed it when we talked about the tabernacle and the priest. Thanks for leaving your explanation at my blog so that others could see it. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat discussion!
