Vacation wrap up

Our last full day of vacation was Thursday.  It was a sea day, meaning we participated in lots of activities aboard ship.

I spent more time on the pool deck.  That thelassotherapy pool was wonderful.

Drew finally won a trivia contest.  The subject was James Bond.   Later he took all the tickets he accumulated from playing trivia and redeemed them for a t shirt.

Charity Lockhart was the last guest performer in the main theater.

Later we sat on the balcony and Star gazed.   And saw other cruise ships on the water.

Then came the ordeal of getting home.   There’s no easy way to get 2,000 passengers and their luggage off a cruise ship, through US Customs and on to their next destinations.  But eventually we made it to Tampa Airport.  Spent a “delightful” afternoon at the airport — our flight was delayed.  Not a bad flight home, with one “laugh out loud” moment;  as we are flying towards La Guardia, we are watching Jeopardy!  and Ken Jennings starts to read a clue about “La Guardia Airport is located in …”

And then … shock.  It was 9°F in NYC.  It was 98° in Cartagena, 85° in Cozumel. C-c-c-cold!

Though I must say it’s nice to have a daughter who can pick you up at the airport.  Though she did make us wear masks in her car because “you’ve been on a floating Petrie dish”.  Considering she actually had COVID when we picked her up from the airport after she went to Paris last summer, I can understand her concern.

So, we’re back home now.  And thinking of our next big trip.

  1. Yeah, apparently your area got a great big freeze while you were away. Thermal shock when you got home, I'm sure. Take care. I hope you didn't catch the dread plague while you were away.

  2. I was envying you just a little towards the end of your cruise! We got down to 3 above where I live and I'll bet 9 where you live was even more miserable than our 3. What a shock the cold must have been to your/Drew's bodies. And sickness - my son got sick Dec 23 and had to bow out of Christmas Eve/Christmas. He tested negative on a home test and is better now, but I'm still a bit suspicious. He never did go to a walk in. I totally understand your daughter - so much sickness floating around up here.
