More this and that

 The trouble with hosting … you clean the house like crazy before the guests arrive, you cook like crazy to ensure you have more than enough food, and you clean like crazy again after they’re gone.  But the house is back in order and the refrigerator is full of leftovers.   And, as I said, the house was filled with light and laughter and love. Exactly what we wanted,  So all that effort paid off.   Definitely worth it. But I still don’t know what my son-in-law does for a living.  I mean, I know it has something to do with software and data, but … he changed jobs this summer, from something he thought was boring to something he finds more challenging.  I know who he works for and what their product does, but the details of his job … I’m still trying to figure that out.   Yesterday Drew and I watched George C. Scott’s version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.   We’ve both seen that version, as well as many other versions, multiple times, and I have read the original work.  I cried at the en

 Back in 2003 I spent a lively evening in the theater, saw a wonderful new show starring Idina Menzel.  Her costar was absent that night, we saw an understudy.  But here they are … (You may have to play some of these on YouTube, some can’t be embedded in my blog …) (Not the original cast, but I couldn’t resist one more clip) And now it’s a movie… Or rather, two movies … 🍿 🎥  Can’t wait until part 2 comes out next year…

 The setting for our Friendsgiving We feasted on turkey with stuffing and gravy, ham (yes, it turned out ok) mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, stuffed mushrooms, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce … The house was filled with light and laughter and love. Two cats hid upstairs most of the evening.  Eventually Shadow came down to timidly socialize a bit. Duchess had no interest,  Both reclaimed the living room after everyone left. And Shadow was fascinated by the flowers, thought they were some sort of snack. We still get printed newspapers delivered to the house.  I read the news on my iPad, but Drew likes to actually hold the paper when he reads it.  When I went outside Saturday morning to get the papers, a squirrel was sitting on the rock where my pumpkins are on display. He ran away when he saw me.  But I fear those pumpkins might become a snack for the bushy-tailed ones.
