Ducks Redux

Another successful trip to see the Long Island Ducks!

We’ve been Ducks fans for many years.  We try to attend games where there’s a giveaway item, so consequently I have several baseball caps, rally towels and t shirts bearing the team logo.  Last year I purchased a hooded sweatshirt from the team store, just in case we attend a game in cooler weather.  I’ve worn the sweatshirt 3 times this year — in August.  Seriously, last night  felt like fall.

There was a bit of weirdness going on.  The ballpark is near MacArthur Airport, so it’s not uncommon to see planes.  But last night there was a helicopter circling … it must have circled for at least half an hour.

And then there was the moon.  The super moon, just past full, rising over the ballpark.

I had a veggie burger on a gluten free bun and fries.  The concession stand was manned by volunteers from a local synagogue, they did it as a fundraiser for the synagogue.

And, oh yeah, there was a baseball game.

The Ducks played the Staten Island Ferryhawks in the latest chapter of  The Battle of the Belt.  The Ducks see the Ferryhawks a lot, for obvious reasons. Exciting game, the Ducks won 8-6.

  1. It sounds like a nice time even without the game! Nice they offer gluten free. And nice it was a fundraiser for the synagogue. You've sure been getting those helicopters lately!

  2. I wonder why the helicopter was circling. Nice that you've got some cooler weather. (We're sweltering here.)
