Veterans Day outrage

I wasn’t going to post something political today,  but I cannot contain my outrage.

Cadet Bonespur flew all the way to France to honor the American dead of World War I, but skipped out on the ceremony at the military cemetery because of rain.

Social media has gone crazy with rebukes.

And my favorite

  1. A cousin (who lives in Europe) somehow managed to make it, as did her husband, a former embassy guard when he served in the military. I once saw the honor soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in 103 degree heat and wondered how they could stand it. What a picture of the guards standing in a downpour. I also think of a man I had the honor of meeting once who survived the Bataan Death March. Yes. And they call us "snowflakes".

  2. Don't expect much with President Trump. I know you don't need to hear that.

  3. He sent John Kelly in his place. At least a former General knows how to honor our war dead, so at least we were spared further embarrassment.

  4. My favorite rumor is that he avoided going because he couldn't ban a certain reporter who was sent to cover the events. A certain reporter who has been banned from the White House. I have no idea if this is true, but I like the idea, so I'll pretend it's true.
