More this and that

 So … Mother’s Day.  On Thursday my kids sent me a strawberry shortcake from the gluten free bakery.  On Saturday they sent purple roses. Drew and I had dinner with Jen last night, sort of a combined Mother’s Day/Jen got a new job celebration.  Becca and Brendon are with his parents this weekend, Drew is taking me out to breakfast this morning, and I will probably spend the afternoon working in my yard.

Jen works in the court system.  She took an exam in November for a higher job title. She got the promotion, but it meant working in a different courthouse.  She’s nervous about the new position, but excited too. 

We went to Mexican restaurant that will make most dishes gluten free upon request.  Considering Jen and I both have Celiac, this was a great choice,

I have to put the roses behind a closed door when I go to bed; Shadow thinks cut flowers are a tasty snack.

And she apparently loves whipped cream.  Yes, I know, dairy products aren’t really good for cats …but when a cat actually tries to grab your fork … well, I gave her a small taste.  

It’s not even Memorial Day yet, but people are already complaining about fireworks and firecrackers and hearing “loud booms”. I’m already dreading the 4th of July …

But first comes Memorial Day, and our barbecue.  We haven’t done one in a couple of years, and I’m really looking forward to this one.

But first we have to get the yard into shape …
