This and that

New use for my Ring cameras: locating the newspaper.  While I prefer to read the news on line, Drew still wants a physical paper.  Or rather, two papers — Newsday and the New York Daily News.  Most of the time the delivery person throws the papers onto our driveway, but sometimes … occasionally I’ve had to review the video of the delivery and watch the trajectory of the paper when they throw it from the car in order to find where it landed.

One  time I found it under the fence that separates our driveway from the neighbors’ lawn.  Another time the paper landed in the street, under a parked car.

At least the wind didn’t blow our newspapers away, like the cardboard box … It’s been very windy here lately.  Drew got a delivery the other day, it came in a large cardboard box.  Our sanitation department picks up cardboard for recycling only once a week.  Drew put the box outside, in front of the garage door, intending to bring the box to the curb on recycling day.  But the wind … we have no idea where the box wound up …

No, I didn’t capture the box escaping on my Ring …

There’s a whole community of Ring users, with discussions on the Ring app.  Today’s discussion was how to secure your cardboard so that it doesn’t blow away …

Several of my neighbors on Ring are currently searching for inflatable decorations that took flight because of the wind … so glad we decided not to bother with the Hanukkah bear … I’d hate to be chasing it down the street …

I actually lost a garbage can once because of the wind.  Nice one, too, on wheels with  an attached lid.  I can imagine it rolling down the street.

There’s a veteran’s organization that wants donations of gently used clothing, they send a truck to your house to pick up your donation.  You’re supposed to place the bag(s) of clothing on your driveway… I am currently preparing another donation.  It’ll be too heavy to blow away …

Yes, I’m doing another purge of my closet.   I put on a favorite sweater the other day; it was way too big on me.  I felt like I was wearing someone else’s clothes. Guess it’s time to go shopping.

  1. Oh, the fun part of shedding pounds - the new wardrobe. Enjoy your shopping. The not fun part of winter? Wind and snow. We had both today but I can't complain. We didn't lose power, and we haven't been getting the snow dumps of further west.

  2. I don't know any non-profit will come to your place to get your items.
