Music Monday

 A “your choice” week.

I’ve got a theme.  See if you can guess it.  I’ll tell you after I play the songs.

If you didn’t guess it by the time Murray Head popped up, surely you figured it out when Sir Paul … yes, all of these songs are pop hits that were originally written for musical theater/Broadway.

  1. It was many years after One Night in Bangkok came out that I discovered that it was written for a Broadway play, although I knew Murray Head sang on the Jesus Christ, Superstar album. And, I never heard the Beatles sing Till There Was You until just now. It's kind of funny that although I have a couple of cousins who are big into Broadway, that spark never ignited me. I did enjoy your set.

  2. I figured they were either tied to Broadway or the movies, or both. Nice selection. Well played.

  4. At first, I thought it was about love then, One Night in Bangkok came on, and I thought,...huh?! I realized that song came from a flop of a musical. I realized Memories is from Cats; some Enchanted Evening, is from South Pacific and Til There Was You came from the Music Man. Great set!
