This and that
New discovery: Trader Joe’s gluten free pizza dough. I never made pizza before. I liked the results and I’ll be buying the dough again. I’ve got a recipe I’d like to try, use the dough to make garlic knots. I haven’t had a garlic knot since my celiac diagnosis, almost two years ago.
I’m still bingeing Mr. Ballen podcasts. All kinds of strange, dark and mysterious stories … including a lot of true crime. You know, like in Only Murders in the Building, but he’s not solving the crimes, just reporting them.
Sometimes I realize my Ring cameras tell me more than I want to know. One of my neighbors across the street had what I think was a medical emergency last night. My cameras picked up about two hours of first responder activity. I watched the videos, which begin shortly after midnight. I saw a police car park directly across the street from my house. A second car joined him shortly thereafter. I could see one of the officers walking back and forth to a house out of the range of my cameras. And at one point I saw what I guess is an ambulance (hard to tell in the dark) drive past my house. No sirens, no bubble lights, and this morning when I went out to get our newspapers there was nothing to indicate the police had been there, so I’m thinking it wasn’t anything sinister. Nothing worthy of Mr. Ballen.
And no, it wasn’t the same neighbor I wrote about here.
Our friend who was admitted to rehab last month is not doing well. As I said, Drew holds the health care proxy and the power of attorney, so he’s been making most of the decisions about our friend’s care, but her sister has become very involved in her care. The care team at the rehab thinks our friend is unable to care for herself and has raised the idea of long-term placement … she’s only a year older than I am.
Having successfully resolved my Wegovy issue with my health insurer, I am now dealing with a second pre authorization issue. Gel injections for My Stupid Knees. I’ve been getting injections for 8 or 9 years now, the idea being that the gel keeps my knees functioning so as to avoid the need for a knee replacement. Apparently there’s a change in my coverage and that raises a problem …
But I will figure it out. I’ve seen too many friends have mobility issues and I don’t want to follow that path.
Do you have Sprouts in your area? I went to one yesterday and noticed all the gluten free selections they had.
