Breathe in, breathe out, move on
So right after the announcement last night, there was a flurry of phone calls and text messages between Spain and Long Island.
The ban doesn’t apply to Americans, but with the ban in place, will flights get canceled?
Bottom line, Becca and her friend booked a flight to the UK, and a flight from the UK to NYC.
They are in London. They are on their way home.
Drew’s Aunt P told him that her friend just came home from Barcelona and was immediately put into quarantine.
If that happens ...
Well, I’d rather have her quarantined in NYC than stranded in Europe.
So I’m still freaking out — that won’t stop until the plane lands at JFK— but it’s not nearly as bad.
The virus spreads so fast ....
The numbers:
The number of cases and deaths changes by the hour, topping 121,564 with at least 4,373 deaths across the world as of Wednesday morning, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Outside China, 32,778 cases across at least 109 countries had been confirmed as of 3 a.m. ET Tuesday — up from 282 cases in four countries on Jan. 21, according to the most recent data confirmed by WHO, which tallies the official count.
While the virus is slowing in China where it originated in December, it's picking up pace across other parts of the world. Italy has the most cases outside China with roughly 10,149 infections, followed closely by Iran with 9,000 infections and South Korea with 7,775, according to Johns Hopkins University data. In the U.S., cases erupted over the last week to more than 1,050 spread across at least 36 states, according to Hopkins.

So the flu kills less than 1% of people who get infected, but COVID 19 kills about 3% of its victims. It’s an unknown, we don’t know what to expect with the new virus, and there’s no vaccine. That’s why it’s so scary.

OH MY GOSH!!!!! I am so happy that she is on her way!!!! BTW, be prepared for her quarantine...I was reading that some college students from our local college arrived back from Italy with their professor and they were automatically taken into quarantine for 14 days. I will keep in prayer, Robin.
