S is for Stegosaurus
A slow moving dinosaur, an armored herbivore, say hi to the stegosaurus, a creature of the Late Jurassic period.
Fossils were found in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.
Plates on its back, spikes on its tail. The length of a bus, it weighed about 14,000 pounds. But it had a brain the size of a walnut, which is why it was called ‘the dumbest dinosaur”.
Cute! I remember a short video about a stegosaurus family. The parents were worried the baby had no plates on its back, and went traveling to ask advice from... I don't remember! It may have ended up he grew them on the way, it was a long time ago! A Papa Beaver's Storytime short on tv. My daughter was always fond of triceratops. For years!
ReplyDeleteDinosaurs are fascinating. It's nice to know they were real, unlike unicorns. Visiting from the A to Z Challenge.
ReplyDeleteCool information. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey always talk about brain size, but I wonder how important that truly is.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Gary Larson, the spikes on its tail are the "Thagomizer," named after the late caveman Thag Simmonds....
ReplyDeletePoor thing! Hope it's brain did more than just regulate bodily functions...
