X is for Xenoceratops
Welcome back to the Late Cretaceous Age. Let me introduce you to my friend the Xenoceratops. He lived about 80 million years ago.
He’s a horned dinosaur, a quadruped herbivore. He’s about the same size as a modern-day rhinoceros, weighs about two tons. He’s got bony frills on his head and two big horns jutting out from over his eyes.
His cousins include triceratops, styracosaurus and judiceratops.
The fossils were discovered in Alberta, Canada.

ReplyDeleteMy husband loved dinosaurs at a time (1950's) when they weren't near as popular as today. He still does, too.
ReplyDeleteI'd not heard of this guy before! By name, he looks a bit familiar, like he's played a background character in books or movies!
ReplyDeleteWords starting with X aren't easy. This is a good one and quite informative. Dinosaurs were amazing creatures. Their extinction is also a pointer to the unpredictability of the human race, is it not?
ReplyDeleteExcellent find for X.
ReplyDeleteThis was my favourite one from the Jurassic Park movies.
