another this and that
We live in strange times indeed.
On Saturday I drove to my mother's house to celebrate her 88th birthday. The whole family sat on the deck, socially distanced, and sang "happy birthday" and ate cake.
Sad news on Monday. A friend's father passed away at age 88. The funeral yesterday was limited to immediate family. There will be a Zoom shiva tomorrow night.
Instead of our annual Labor Day barbecue, we had a few close friends come over. We socially distanced in the back yard while eating take-out Chinese. Everyone enjoyed ...
... except Duchess. Duchess is an indoor cat, not permitted to venture outside. Normally, during our barbecues, when people are walking in and out of the house all day, we keep Duchess in the spare bedroom, with the door closed. But this time around, with only three guests, we let Duchess have the run of the house. She came to the back window and YELLED at us! I have never seen that cat so angry before. She wanted us to come into the house and keep her company.
So Drew is back st work. The school district where he works is using a hybrid approach. Half of the kids are in school at any given time, and half are doing remote learning. Drew has to learn how to use a Chromebook, invite students to his class, take attendance electronically, etc. Strange and new, but he will get the hang of it.
Current read:
Does Drew know about the Google Extensions? Another teacher gave me links to a couple that are amazingly helpful (but for some reason aren't working for me at home so I don't know actual names). One actually takes attendance from the Google Meet along with tracking how long each kiddo was in class.
ReplyDeleteI think that's what he was getting trained on
DeleteThey had a last minute retirement, so he's got a program for now. He's not sure how long that will last
