another this and that

Jen is gearing up for her birthday next month.  She and her boyfriend are headed ot St. Lucia for a couple of days.  She won a free stay at a resort, she only had to pay airfare.  She's never been to the Caribbean before, and she's so excited.

Becca came home unexpectedly over the weekend.  She's going through a really rough time right now. We took the train together this morning, and she made me walk through three cars so that we could find two seats together because she didn't want to deal with strangers...mom as a human shield of sorts.

Sigh.  They say a mother is only as happy as her least happy child.

We had a relatively quiet weekend, dinner with friends Saturday night at Sushi Palace and then on Sunday I took Drew to brunch at Thomas's Ham 'n' Eggery.  I am really liking Thomas's, it's one of the best breakfasts on Long Island.  The owner was behind the counter, and you could see the look of pride on his face...

We're going to the theater tomorrow.  We're seeing My Fair Lady.  It's one of Drew's favorite musicals.    When we bought the tickets, we didn't realize...Laura Benanti is taking over the role of Eliza Doolittle and her first performance is tomorrow night.  She was on Stephen Colbert's show the other night, and Colbert told Benanti he'd be in the audience tomorrow night.  I'll be looking for him...

It won't be the first time we'dve had a celebrity in the audience.  When we saw Jerry Lewis a few years ago, Richard Belzer was in the audience. And we were in the Cabaret audience at Studio 54 the night Shia LeBeouf was arrested for disorderly conduct.

It should be a fun evening.

  2. Cool for Jen, hugs for Becca and yum, Thomas's! Back in the 80's, they had a wonderful waitress with blonde hair that was evocative of Flo in Alice. She used all the diner lingo, like "Kokomo, no bacon!". I worked every Sunday at Roosevelt Field, so that was a frequent breakfast stop before I had to go to work.

My dad would come pick us up at 9am, and the question always was "Noisy's?", the nickname we'd given the waitress.

Hope you enjoyed My Fair Lady!
