Another this and that

We were supposed to see a concert in NYC last night — “The Monkees - the Mike and Mickey Show” - but the show was postponed until January because Mike Nesmith took ill.   So instead we drove down to Jones Beach and took a walk, then picked up some Hawaiian take-out and came home to watch the Mets game.

Our friends L and E went to Westbury Music Fair last night to see the “Happy Together” tour — featuring the Turtles and several other bands from the 1960’s.  They were supposed to see The Monkees with us, but when the show got cancelled, they bought tickets for the Turtles.  Funny thing is, they originally had tickets for the Turtles, but sold those tickets when they bought the tickets for The Monkees.

Tonight we are headed to Citi Field for a Mets game.  You know we love baseball.

Still trying to figure out when to have the 4th of July barbecue.  The holiday is on a Wednesday this year, which wreaks havoc on our schedule.

Drew had a little visitor to his yard.







The bunny seemed to really enjoy the tall grass.  Drew’s lawn mower is back from the repair shop now.  I hate to disappoint the bunny, but I’m sure Drew’s neighbors prefer shorter grass on the lawn.

    Bummer that the concert was postponed.

    You might enjoy what the summer school is doing for the 4th. They're taking *the whole week* off. They're calling it a "spring break" in the summer. I think we all should just take the whole week. Why not?

found a new blog today. Love it. http://secret-squirrel.webs.com/index.htm I've posted there under various names over the last 10 years or so. it went from a sweet little board that was Pete Werner's hobby to ....well, a real nightmare. that a board devoted to all things Disney can be such a nasty, racist, childish (not childlike) place.... loving the inside scoop, though. Did I ever tell you how "songbird" was banned from the DIS? I was a poster in good standing for 3-4 years. Even booked my trips through Dreams Unlimited, back when Pete was careful to distinguish between the disboards as a hobby and Dreams as his business. Pete and Webmaster Alex were struggling with server issues, the disboards would go down more often than they'd stay up. then Pete announced cosmetic changes to wdwinfo.com, which feeds into the disbaords forum. Music Monday

Another “your choice” week. How about new music from icons of the 60’s and 70’s? Let’s start with Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous hit, “Bubbles Up”. The Rolling Stones released a new song in 2023, it’s called “Angry”. The surviving Beatles (with some  help from AI) released “Now and Then”. And then Billy Joel …    The AI effects in the video blew me away… A note about the AI effects … the Beatles used it to isolate John’s vocals on an old demo.  Billy Joel had a young man play the piano then superimposed his own face onto the image of the younger man.
