I'll Be Loving You (Forever)

Saturday 9: I'll Be Loving You (Forever) – 1989
1) A Greek philosopher said, "There is nothing permanent except change." The New Kids on the Block sang, "I'll be loving you forever." Who do you think is right? Or can both be right?
People change. They grow and mature. You can love someone forever, but the way you love them has changed because both people have changed.
2) In this week's song, New Kids lead singer Jordan Knight sings that he can't take a broken heart. What advice would you give someone struggling through the end of a romance?
Love yourself. Do a lot of self care. Pamper yourself.
3) Jordan was invited to join the New Kids on the Block by his friend, Donnie Wahlberg. Has a friend ever gotten you a job?
No, but I helped a friend get a job where I was working. My team leader told me there was a position open on our team and asked if I knew anyone who could fill it. I emailed a friend I used to work with to ask if he knew anyone. Turns out my friend was actively looking for a job. My friend got the job,
4) Donnie began his show business career as a singer/rapper. Now he's probably better known as an actor, appearing for 14 seasons on a popular police show. Can you name it?
Blue Bloods.
5) Much of the video for this song was filmed in the gymnasium of Xavier High School in New York City. When is the last time you were in a high school gym?
Probably when my kids were in high school. Older daughter was a cheerleader and younger daughter was on the dance team, and the moms spent a lot of time in gyms watching games and competitions.
6) The video also shows the boys enjoying pizza. What toppings are on your dream pizza?
Sigh … pizza … I am fortunate to be able to find gluten free pizza, but I miss the real deal. Top mine with sausage and pepperoni please.
7) The band is back together! The New Kids on the Block will be appearing this summer at the Park MGM in Las Vegas. Do you have any concert plans this year?
We have tickets to see Tommy James.
I’m trying to decide if I want to spend a fortune to see Billy Joel — he’s doing concerts at Citi Field, Yankee Stadium and MetLife Stadium this summer.
8) In 1989, when this song was popular, Irish golfer Rory McIlroy was born. He recently won the prestigious Masters Tournament. Tell us about a competition you won. (Yes, your third grade spelling bee counts.)
Honestly I can’t think of any … not in the sense you intended.
As a lawyer I win or lose cases. That’s “competition” in a way. And I’ve won prizes in a raffle — my favorite gold earrings came from a raffle at a Relay for Life event.
But an actual competition? Sorry, no.
9) Random question – On which game show would you do better: Jeopardy! or Wheel of Fortune?
Jeopardy! is practically a religion in this house. Do not call us at 7PM.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
I don't know anything about The New Kids on the Block, other than their name. I do think both Donnie and his brother Mark are very good actors. I liked Donnie in the two episodes of Rizzoli and Isles. I thought it was his brother at first. Mark was good in The Lovely Bones, which I re-read recently. I didn't care for the Rizzoli and Isles novels though. The only competition I think I've won was for first chair flute in middle school!
ReplyDelete2) (HUGS) that is so true, don’t forget to take care of yourself while you are caring for others.
ReplyDelete3) Networking was the way I got all my jobs, friends have told me about job openings.
9) I used to be a Jeopardy fan but they changed the time and it clashes with PBS News Hour
Buy the tickets. Life is short.
ReplyDeleteI live so far away from civilization that going to a concert is a major endeavor. I wish I lived close enough to have options--I would definitely go see Billy Joel.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Christian concert and glad I did. It was at a local church and doable for me. I don't drive at night, so I would have to go with someone else if I wanted to go. I think you should go to the concert if you really want to. I liked your answer to 1.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was in a gym... We had an assembly (ahem, rally) at the high school in... March? I think March. Considering how close the gym is on campus, it's surprising how often I'm not in it. Like, rarely.
ReplyDelete1989... the year I graduated high school.
