Saturday 9

Heart Like a Truck

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Heart Like a Truck (2022)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this week's song, Lainey Wilson longs to hit the open road. What do you yearn for this morning?

Summer weather

2) She says her heart runs on dreams and gasoline. What fuels you?

Purrs and meows…I am relishing my current role as cat mom.

Shadow and Duchess are my babies.

3) Lainey sings that her heart has been "drug through the mud." The correct past tense of "drag" is "dragged," but in parts of our country, "drug" is sometimes used. Can you think of any other grammatically incorrect song lyrics?

This song:

I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm drivin' in my car, and the man come on the radio
He's tellin me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no. No, no, no. Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I and try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm watching my TV and a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke the same cigarettes as me
I can't get no. Oh, no no no. Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no girl with action
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm ridin' round the world and I'm doin' this and I'm signin' that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl, who tells me
Baby, better come back maybe next week
'Cause you see I'm on a losing streak
I can't get no. Oh, no no no. Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say

I can't get no, I can't get no, no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction

4) She tells us her truck could benefit from being dusted off and shined up. Could your vehicle use a little TLC?

It’s been a long, cold, lonely winter ….  Yes, the car could use some cleanup.

5) Before making it big in country music, Lainey supported herself by doing odd jobs, including appearing as a Hannah Montana impersonator for kids' parties. What's the most unusual job you've held?

I worked at a state park for two summers during college.  My job included (at various times) picking up litter from the beach and parking lot, cleaning the restrooms, monitoring the ladies’ locker room, manning the toll booth, and renting out beach umbrellas.

Bit one day there was an event … they asked for volunteers… this was the summer of 1978 … they dressed us up as Star Wars characters …I was Princess Leia.

6) In addition to singing, Lainey has acted, appearing in 5 episodes of the series Yellowstone. Are you a fan of the show?

No.

7) She loves Southern comfort food like mac and cheese and biscuits and gravy. What's on the menu at your place this weekend?

I haven’t really thought about it … I’m going to a bridal shower Saturday so I won’t be cooking.  Not sure what we’re doing Sunday.

8) In 2022, when this song was on the charts, Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Have you ever been to Scotland?

No, but I’d love to go someday.

9) Random question – Let's pretend you're back in Kindergarten. Which of these would young you prefer: a toy kitchen set, kid-sized gardening tools, or a mini trampoline?

Probably the kitchen set.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  1. I remember that song. It was one of the rock songs I liked. I don't think anyone cared if it didn't use correct grammar. Your park job sounds like it was a nice experience. Have a nice time at the bridal shower!

  2. Princess Leia is so much cooler than Hannah Montana. I think Mick and Keith would have been disappointed by the assessment of Susan (above) that no one cared about the bad grammar. I suspect everything about that song was meant to be provocative (at least provocative, ca 1964). My cats are a big part of my day, too! I should have included them in my answer.

  5. I put up with grammatically incorrect song lyrics by seeing them as poetic license! In real life, I'm a member of the grammar police. Misplaced apostrophes are my pet peeve!

  6. I chose the same song for #3. And I also chose the kitchen set!

  7. There are many songs that would be grammatically wrong. But poetry shouldn't have to follow grammatical rules.
