Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Saturday 9: Here Comes Peter Cottontail (from the archives)
1) Which do you prefer: colored hard-boiled eggs, chocolate marshmallow eggs, or plastic eggs with coins inside?
Nice Jewish girl here, my holiday is Passover, which we celebrated last week. Hard boiled eggs are also part of Passover, I ate a lot of them this week, so I’m really done with them at this point. Please pass a chocolate egg. I’ll take one with marshmallow, but I actually prefer Reese’s peanut butter eggs, if you’ve got them.
2) What's your favorite color of Peeps (yellow, purple, or pink)?
Pink.
3) All this talk of sweets is making Sam hungry. What's for lunch?
A nice salad.
4) This song was introduced by country singer Gene Autry and it's still a favorite. Please share some of the lyrics. (And you're on your own; Sam didn't include a link to the song this week.)
Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail …
5) Gene Autry was so popular that a town in Oklahoma named itself for him. Have you ever been to Oklahoma?
No.
6) He and his horse Champion also had a TV show. Can you name another famous horse?
Man O’War. Seabiscuit. Secretariat.
I live 19 miles (28 minutes) away from Belmont, what did you expect?
In 2014 I visited Kentucky Horse Park, a museum dedicated to horses.
7) Gene Autry also recorded "Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer," and it was, of course, wildly popular, too. Who is your favorite recording artist?
8) In 1950, the year Autry recorded this song, Diner's Club issued the first credit card. Think of the last thing you purchased. Did you use cash, a credit card, a debit card, an e-wallet service (Visa Checkout, Paypal, Google Pay, Apple Pay ...) or a check?
I think I’ve written two checks this year. I love PayPal. Most recent purchase was a debit card purchase.
9) Easter is recognized as the start of the spring season. What are you looking forward to this spring?
Warm weather, flowers blooming, more time outside. I just bought some spring clothes and I’m dying to wear them.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
I write checks to smaller, local charities because I don't want them having to pay the pass-thru fees that Paypal and the credit card companies charge. For a big charity like the ASPCA or St. Jude's, credit card giving works because they get so many transactions and with online giving they don't have to pay a staffer or ask a volunteer to open all those envelopes, log all the gifts and then go to the bank. I get it. But to a little local, that 2% matters.
ReplyDeleteA lot of on l8be charities will ask the donor to cover the processing cost. So my $18 donation becomes $18.75 or something like that.
DeleteI'm anxious to pull out my spring/summer clothes, too. I'm tired of sweaters.
ReplyDeleteI bet you will enjoy those new springs clothes!
ReplyDeletePeeps? Ick.
ReplyDeleteThe payment question is interesting. I'm at a weird point right now. Yesterday I personally bought something with a debit card, but I left cash for my roommate to pick me up a pizza. She bought the pizza after I bought my thing, so which form of payment did I use most recently? Hard to say.
