More ramblings

The fire at the cat rescue is front page news.  Posts from every cat rescue group on Long Island have been popping up in my Facebook feed.  Can’t imagine why.  Yes, I sent a donation. How could I not? Shadow, as you know, was a private adoption.  But Duchess is a rescue from North Shore Animal League.  I went with Drew when he chose Duchess.  She was only 3 months old, she was born at the shelter.  Not that you’d know it based on her attitude today; Duchess is aptly named.

But Monday proved the value of apps like Ring and Neighbors. All of the surviving cats were rescued and placed in carriers simply because someone posted that carriers were needed.

Bad storms Monday night.

At least we didn’t have tornado warnings, like they did in New Jersey.

(And yes, I’m still playing with our Ring cameras.)

And it’s baseball season.  I’ve been watching the Mets, and occasionally the Yankees.  And the Ducks will start their season later this month.  So happy …

Becca texted me Monday night to ask if she could bring friends to the Seder.  Before I could even ask who she wanted to invite she texted me “Never mind, they’ve got plans.”  Of course I was going to say yes, it’s considered a mitzvah to invite friends to the Seder.  “Let all who are hungry come and eat, and celebrate the Passover with us.”  And when the invitation is for a woman I’ve known since she was five years old …

Yes, Becca’s closest friends are girls she’s known since kindergarten.  She had five women in her bridal party — Jen, two kindergarten friends, a high school friend and a college friend.

Come to think of it, Jen’s closest friends are women she grew up with, mostly her high school friends.

I guess they planted very deep roots …

Decoration I just added to my workstation (not my home office)

  1. I didn't know about the fire until now. How tragic. How sad for the owner, knowing he could only save so many, yet going in time after time until he couldn't go out.

  2. Glad to hear the cat rescue is doing okay, considering.
