Saturday 9
Footloose
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!
Saturday 9: Footloose (1984)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune. Hear it here.
1) In this week's song, Kenny Loggins encourages everyone to lose their blues by dancing. What reliably shakes you out of a funk?
I can’t stay upset when hugging this little furball.
2) To cut footloose, he has to kick off his "Sunday shoes." What's on your feet as you answer these 9 questions?
I’m barefoot.
3) This is the title song of the popular 1984 movie of the same name. It's so well-identified with the film that the AFI named it #96 of the top 100 movie songs of the last 100 years. Have you seen Footloose?
No.
4) The title of his 2022 memoir, Still Alright, was inspired by "I'm Alright," the song he wrote for the raucous golf comedy, Caddyshack. Do you play golf? (Yes, putt-putt miniature golf counts!) Do you watch it on TV?
I don’t golf and I haven’t been to miniature golf in years.
5) Thinking of movies, Kenny says watching Yankee Doodle Dandy when he was just 7 years old made him think performing looked like fun and says, "I knew deep inside this is something I could do." Do you recall when you set off on your chosen career?
High school. My Social Studies teacher put Napoleon Bonaparte on trial for crimes against the people of France. I was one of his defense attorneys. We won.
5) Kenny grew up in Everett, Washington, north of Seattle and 84 miles from the Canadian border. Have you ever visited Canada? If yes, where did you go?
I went to Montreal in college. A friend who was a member of the French club invited me to the club’s weekend trip.
A few years ago Drew and I went to Niagara Falls. Our hotel was on the American side of the falls but we visited the Canadian side.
6) In 1977 Kenny struck up a friendship with Stevie Nicks, who was a source of encouragement and would sing with him on one of his biggest hits, "Whenever I Call You Friend." Tell us about when you met one of your best friends.
I call her my “Disney buddy” and I’ve known her over 20 years. A bunch of us who posted on a message board for Disney fans decided to meet up in person. K and I had been talking a lot on the board, and when we met in person we really hit it off.
7) In 1984, when this song was a hit, Angela Lansbury premiered in Murder, She Wrote, a show still seen in reruns today. Were/are you a fan?
Yes, I loved that show. Still watch it in reruns occasionally.
8) Let's tweak your memory about something else that happened in 1984. Without looking it up, can you recall why Michael Jackson's Pepsi commercial made headlines the world over?9) Random question -- Think of your last professionally prepared meal. Did you dine in, carry out, or have it delivered?
Last night I ordered soup and salad from Panera and had it delivered to the house.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Our answers to #1 and #2 are virtually identical. One of my cats is even a tuxedo!
ReplyDeleteTwinsies!
DeleteYou've never seen Footloose?!? I mean, okay, it wasn't great cinema or anything, but it's a watchable film. Or at least it was... I haven't seen it since it came out, so I have no idea if it aged well...
ReplyDeleteI know all the songs and I know the plot, but no, I didn’t see it
DeleteI wish I lived somewhere where food could be delivered. Unfortunately, I'm too rural for that.
ReplyDeleteI love getting take out!!
ReplyDeleteLoved Footloose back in the day but Flashdance, another iconic 1980s flick was SO much better!!
LOVE being barefoot too!!
We play mini golf a few times a summer.
Enjoyed visiting your blog
#4 The local senior centers had a trip to a miniature golf that I attended, it was a fun trip.
ReplyDelete#9 There is a local restaurant here on the Cape that I get takeout from, what I like about it is that it is a local restaurant and it is a left turn coming out of my side street (Something that a Cape dweller understands).
