Baseball playoffs!

 So … the Ducks. 

The Ducks play in the Atlantic League.  The League has two divisions, North and South.  The league plays a split season, with the winner of the first half in each division playing the winner of the second half in the first round of playoffs..  

The first half winners were the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars in the North and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the South. The Lexington Legends won the second half in the South.

In the North …the York Revolution were in the lead for most of the summer, with the Ducks in a close second. Until the final weekend. The Ducks and York were tied, and each had three games left. If the teams were still tied at the end of the weekend, the Ducks would advance to the playoffs because they won the series they played against York.

So … Sunday.  The teams were still tied.  York was scheduled to play the Ferryhawks in Staten Island and the Ducks were hosting the Blue Crabs.  A distance of 60 miles. 

York started playing at 1:30.  The Ducks had a rain delay, and didn’t start playing until 2:30.  So the Ducks would know the outcome of York’s game while the Ducks were still playing. 

York won their game, putting the Ducks in a “must win” situation.

And the Ducks came through.  Their best-of-five against Hagerstown starts tonight, first two games here on Long Island. Drew will be going to tonight’s game, and both of us are going tomorrow.
