Ramblings

 Large sections of the country got snow yesterday.  We got rain.  I can live with that.

But we do have our snow blower, it’s been fully serviced and it’s ready for action — if we get snow.

My favorite YouTuber/podcaster has announced changes to his schedule that mean more content. More MrBallen?  Yay!  He seems to be fully recovered from his recent illness.

Funny how much we care about our favorite entertainers.  It’s almost like we know them …but all we really know is the public persona.

It’s almost time for our annual visit to the v-e-t.  It’s never fun, for any of us.  Duchess wails and caterwauls the entire time she’s in the pet carrier … I think she’d rather brave the huge dogs in the waiting room than stay in the carrier, but Shadow prefers the carrier to the dogs … I swear the entire carrier jumped when she saw a dog … 

Drew is actually thinking about getting a dog.  A small one, like a dachshund.  Drew’s father once had a dachshund, it was a great dog.

Drew and I had a dog once, long ago …

We went to North Shore Animal League with the intention of adopting a puppy but wound up with a full-grown beagle named Molly.

She was the dumbest but the sweetest dog...

She liked to dig...I almost killed her when she used her digging skills on the foam cushions of my couch.

And who can forget when she escaped from our apartment and I wound up chasing her all through our Brooklyn neighborhood in my bathrobe? I never caught her...she ran around the block and then ran home.

But...she won a place in my heart forever...when Jen was a baby and learning to walk, she'd grab Molly's floppy ears and use the poor dog's head as leverage to bring herself to a standing position. and the dog allowed it...even slept under the crib at night to keep my little one safe.

Drew got custody of the dog in the divorce...the last time I saw her she was old...had cateracts and could barely see...but I think she recognized me...
