Ramblings

So I took a walk yesterday at lunchtime.  Cloudy, foggy day, but still relatively warm at 55°.  Today?  It’s in the 30’s, break out the winter costs.

Seriously, it got very cold very quickly. I am not used to this.

Of all the inflatable turkeys I see around the neighborhood. I think this one is the cutest.

And this is a clever way to recycle.

Change is in the air, isn’t it?

I solved a “mystery” last night.  All summer long, I’d look out my bedroom window at night and I’d see red lights in the distance, about a mile away.  I’d look through my binoculars, but I could not see what the lights were attached to … too many trees between me and the lights.

But now the trees are bare.  Can you tell what I’m looking at?

My iPhone can’t do it justice, but that’s the Levittown water tower.

I haven’t been able to see it during the day … yet.

Interesting tidbit.  I live on the Levittown/Hicksville border I’m .9 miles from the Levittown tower (where we get our water) but only .8 miles from the Hicksville tower.  Can’t see the Hicksville tower from my house, though— too many obstructions.

I’m thinking of getting a stationary bike.  I haven’t even unboxed the walking pad yet but I’m already mentally adding to the home gym.   I mean, I could just do some indoor walking videos and chair yoga.  But I like variety.

And I’m still taking walks when weather permits.

  1. You wouldn't have wanted to me walking or outside where I live this morning. What a mess. Accidents everywhere. No one ready for this snow when the weather had been so mild up to a few days ago. My husband cancelled an appointment he had for this afternoon. Ugh. Just plain ugh.

  2. 55 degrees is not warm. That's the temperature when it gets bitterly cold. That's a nighttime low. (Yes, I'm spoiled where I live.)

    1. That was the temperature when we first came here to look for a house to buy, and we were freezing! It's interesting how you get used to it, I wouldn't wear a coat now at 55!

  3. I expect our weather to change suddenly too. I just picked cherry tomatoes this afternoon and the first frost is overdue.
