Has it really been 4 years?

The Giants take on the Packers today. One of those teams will play the Saints next week, and then it's on to the Superbowl.

The Giants won the Superbowl 4 years ago, in 2008.  The moment is indelibly tattooed on my brain.

Jen was a senior in high school then. She had applied at the University of Hartford and there was some program on Monday morning.  The drive from Long Island to Hartford . . . We decided to drive up Sunday night and stay over, then drive home Monday after the program.

Did I mention that the Giants played the Patriots?  And that Hartford, being in Connecticut, is Patriots country?

So the whole time we were in the car, Jen's friend Billy was texting her updates on the game.

Just as I pulled into the hotel parking lot Jen said" The Giants just won the game!"

The hotel lobby had a huge flat screen TV.  And a lot of sad faces.

And here I was, with my NY driver's license . . .

Ah, well, at least we weren't in Boston.  I LOVE that city, but would have felt very uncomfortable . . .

Four years later . . .she chose a different college, also in New England, and she's about to graduate.  She's a Jets fan these days, but will root for the Giants as a matter of home town pride. 

All of her housemates are New Englanders.

A Giants/Pats rematch this year could be . . .interesting.

found a new blog today. Love it. http://secret-squirrel.webs.com/index.htm I've posted there under various names over the last 10 years or so. it went from a sweet little board that was Pete Werner's hobby to ....well, a real nightmare. that a board devoted to all things Disney can be such a nasty, racist, childish (not childlike) place.... loving the inside scoop, though. Did I ever tell you how "songbird" was banned from the DIS? I was a poster in good standing for 3-4 years. Even booked my trips through Dreams Unlimited, back when Pete was careful to distinguish between the disboards as a hobby and Dreams as his business. Pete and Webmaster Alex were struggling with server issues, the disboards would go down more often than they'd stay up. then Pete announced cosmetic changes to wdwinfo.com, which feeds into the disbaords forum. Music Monday

Another “your choice” week. How about new music from icons of the 60’s and 70’s? Let’s start with Jimmy Buffett’s posthumous hit, “Bubbles Up”. The Rolling Stones released a new song in 2023, it’s called “Angry”. The surviving Beatles (with some  help from AI) released “Now and Then”. And then Billy Joel …    The AI effects in the video blew me away… A note about the AI effects … the Beatles used it to isolate John’s vocals on an old demo.  Billy Joel had a young man play the piano then superimposed his own face onto the image of the younger man.
