Saturday 9
Rocky Road to Dublin
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
3) This recording of the song is by The High Kings. Well established in Ireland, their career reached new heights in March 2012. Right after playing for the Lord Mayor of London's St. Patrick's Day celebration, they flew to Washington to perform for President Obama at the White House St. Patrick's Day concert. Tell us about a time when you were so happy, you had to pinch yourself to make sure you weren't dreaming.
6) McDonald's has made Shamrock Shakes a St. Patrick's Day tradition. McDonald's began adding the drive-thru window to their restaurants in the 1970s. Would you rather order from the restaurant counter or the drive-thru?
9) Random question: Think of your upcoming week. Which day will be the busiest?
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Saturday 9: The Rocky Road to Dublin (2008)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about a young man who leaves home to seek his fortune. How old were you when you first moved out on your own?
I went away to college at 18, lived in dorms until I graduated from law school at 24, got my first apartment at 25.
2) He leaps onto a ship but the captain makes him sleep in the hold with pigs. Have you ever taken a cruise? (If so, we hope you had better accommodations.)

Yes, I’ve been on several cruises, most recently in December 2022. We went to Cartagena, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico and the Cayman Islands.

Most recently, when my daughter Becca called me to say her boyfriend popped the question. I am now the mother of the bride.
I’m writing this on Friday morning. Tonight we’re going to a local restaurant that is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party, with dinner, bagpipers and step dancing. Should be fun.
5) Leprechauns are a symbol of St. Patrick's Day. These small Irish fairies are said to live in the forest, guarding their gold. Do you often wear gold?
I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, but I do have some nice gold pieces.
6) McDonald's has made Shamrock Shakes a St. Patrick's Day tradition. McDonald's began adding the drive-thru window to their restaurants in the 1970s. Would you rather order from the restaurant counter or the drive-thru?
The counter. If they make a mistake, it’s easier to fix.
7) A four-leaf clover is considered good luck. Do you have a lucky charm?
7) A four-leaf clover is considered good luck. Do you have a lucky charm?
No.
8) Thinking of Lucky Charms, they are magically delicious. What breakfast cereal is in your kitchen right now?
Honey Nut Cheerios.
9) Random question: Think of your upcoming week. Which day will be the busiest?
Monday. Important zoom that morning.

I believe you're this week's most experience "cruiser." And congratulations, Mother of the Bride!

#4 I am not a big fan of bagpipes. When my cousin plays his, I just grin and bare it.
ReplyDelete#6 Yup, I don’t know how many times I ended up with the wrong order.
#9 My zoom meeting is Thursday.
I prefer a tin whistle to bagpipes for Irish music. And I have an important Zoom meeting Monday, too--I'm interviewing a student scholar for a Gates Foundation scholarship program.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the upcoming nuptials!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great Cruise! I like Honey Nut Cheerios too!
ReplyDeleteI used to love Lucky Charms. (I don't eat cereal anymore.)
ReplyDeleteMother of the Bride! What a nice surprise!
ReplyDeleteI need to remember these question games.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
