  1. Memories...visiting Ground Zero in August of 2002 with my husband, my then preteen son and a cousin. I could still smell the burning even then. We rode the subway from Brooklyn into lower Manhattan and passed the Cortlandt St station that had been closed. I explained this all to my son and people on the subway just started talking to us.... I worked one summer of college (1973) near City Hall so I somewhat knew the area, had, in fact, done my banking in the then-incomplete North Tower. I passed a tattered Missing poster, and it was a picture of an alumnus of my high school. My cousin had lost his best friend and also his next door neighbor. He's never been the same. Your posts just brought some of it back. We made another visit in February of 2005 when we came into the city to see The Gates. I haven't been back to lower Manhattan since although I've seen the Freedom Tower from afar. I would dearly love to visit the area just to pay my respects one more time.
