Ramblings

 Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️

One of my favorite DJ’s is Scott Shannon.  He used to be the voice morning voice of FM radio here in the NYC area, first on Z-100, then on WPLJ, and most recently on WCBS-FM.  He can still be heard on   True Oldies Channel.

St. Patrick’s Day in NYC would not be complete until Scott played the following song.

Now that Purim is over, we start thinking about Passover.  It looks like we will be hosting two Seders.    My house will once again be filled with laughter and light and love.

I’ve already started my shopping.  There’s a supermarket in Plainview that carries EVERYTHING for Passover.

This year Passover coincides with the Christian Holy Week.  The first Seder is April 12 and Palm Sunday is April 13.  The last day of Passover is April 20, Easter Sunday.

Passover is a spring holiday.

This year, the first day of spring is Thursday, March 20.   Though you wouldn’t know it by looking out my window right now.  Driving rain, howling wind .. ugh.

But we are expecting better weather later this week.

And another sign of spring?  My allergies.  I’m apparently reacting to maple and elm pollen.

I mean, the crocuses are already in bloom, and I’ve seen the stems of daffodils poking up …give it another few days and I’m sure the forsythia will start to bloom.

Yes … spring.

  1. No, spring has decided to delay here too, a big winter rainstorm has been here for a few days and won't leave this week. I don't get seasonal allergies, or I don't think I do. For the past few days I've had a little cough, a little throat scratchiness, a little nasal drip. A little cold, or allergies.

  2. Spring is a mixed blessing, then. Allergies suck. I hope they don't bother you too much.

  3. Bryan Bowers was a member of the Chicago folk scene when I was in college. At the time, he played the autoharp and a Ukrainian instrument called the bandura, and if I remember correctly he played a pretty mean clarinet. I've wondered what happened to him...
