Sold!

So, as I have mentioned far too many times, Drew and I are loyal fans of the Long Island Ducks.  We have spent many summer hours at the ballpark in Central Islip, rooting for our team, cheering for our mascot Quacker  Jack.

The Ducks play in the Atlantic League, an independent league.  You might say they are a mainstay  of the league, as they are one of the few original teams still playing in the league.  The team’s owner is also the man who founded the league.

Former NY Mets shortstop Bud Harrelson was a part owner of the team, and former Mets Gary Carter and Wally Backman have served as managers of the team.

Well, yesterday came the news that the team has been sold,

Yes, sold.  To the parent company of the Texas Rangers,

They new owners said they won’t be changing the Ducks … but who really knows?

  1. This sounds like a big news. Now Long Island Ducks will not be owned by someone based in Long Island, if I understand correctly. Quite possible the Ducks might change in due course.
