Saturday 9
My Baby Just Cares for Me
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: My Baby Just Cares for Me (2016)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) Michael Buble sings that his lover doesn't care much about the theater or new clothes. Which have you done more recently -- attended a play or movie or added to your wardrobe?
Wicked didn’t officially open until today (Friday) but we got an offer from Fandango to see a special showing earlier in the week. I’d seen the Broadway show twice and absolutely loved it. The movie is wonderful.
2) This song was first performed in 1930, 45 years before Buble was born. What pop song do you love that is far older than you are?
So many … but in keeping with my current viewing habits …
3) The video for this song features a spinning vinyl record. Do you still have a turntable?
Yes. Drew has a huge collection of vinyl.
4) Michael is currently appearing on The Voice. Are you watching this season?
It’s one of my guilty pleasures. There’s a Buble protege, Edward Preble, on the show this year. I don’t think he will win, but he’s very very good.
5) Of all his albums, Michael Buble's Christmas CD is his top seller. Now that we're in the month of November it's time for you to weigh in: When do you think it's appropriate to start playing holiday songs?
After Thanksgiving. I don’t want to hear it early in November.
6) He unwinds by fishing, and he's very good at it. Fishing is a sport that requires lots of gear. Is there anyone in your life that has a hobby or passion that makes them easy to shop for?
Drew loves DVD’s, CD’s and graphic t-shirts.
7) Michael is a good cook and enjoys whipping up spaghetti bolognese. What's on the menu at your home this weekend?
Meatloaf sounds good …
8) In 2016, when Michael Buble released this song, the United States Postal Service posthumously honored child star Shirley Temple with a postage stamp. Decades after leaving Hollywood, she served as US Ambassador to Ghana. Could you find Ghana on a map or globe?
I know it’s in Africa, but my sense of African geography is very poor.
9) Random question -- You neglected that soft drink and now it's gone flat. Do you drink it anyway or dump it down the drain?
It’s history.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Some women from our church are going to see Wicked. They rented a small theater that seats about 140. My granddaughter was in NY 2 years ago and wanted to see it with her dad. It was sold out, so they saw Phantom and loved it. I saw Phantom on Broadway in 2008 and at Las Vegas too. I love musicals!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere Over the Rainbow is a great choice and so is I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.
That young man who likes those old songs is endearing. I have not been overly impressed by much of the talent this season, but he is memorable.
ReplyDeleteThat 17 year old from Long Island — her name is Shye — is good. But I’m not overly impressed with anyone else.
Delete#1 I got to watch Wicker for free when I chaperone a bunch of teenager when I was interning. Great movie!
ReplyDelete#5 They were playing Christmas song at CVS!
#7 I haven’t had any luck with meatloaf, it comes out too dry.
That would be a challenge--to answer all the questions with references to Wicked. I think you could do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to see Wicked next week when I'm on Thanksgiving break. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI want to see Wicked so much, but will have to wait until it leaves theaters. There's no one in my life that wants to see it. Boo.
ReplyDelete#5: I think there's a trend away from early Christmas carols. Last year, at the store where I work, the holiday music started on November 1. Customers actually complained. This year, we haven't begun playing them yet.
