More this and that
I hadn’t planned on watching the World Series, but somehow I wound up watching the tail end of last night’s game. It’s not as exciting as when it’s my team, but it was fun.
So yeah, I had chicken pox when I was 4 years old. My mother used to tell a story about that. At the time she was a stay-at-home mother, taking care of me and my younger sister (the other two hadn’t been born yet). Once a week she’d pack up the car and we’d drive to her cousin’s house, then all four of us would spend the afternoon at a bowling alley — my mom and her cousin belonged to a league.
We were driving home from bowling one afternoon when we got a flat tire. This was before cell phones, of course, and before my mom learned how to change a tire, so we had to walk to a pay phone …After the tire had been changed, I showed my mother a little blister on my finger. The next day I was covered in chicken pox … and soon after that, so was my sister.
That’s why, when my pediatrician suggested that Jen and Becca get the chicken pox vaccine, I was happy to follow his advice. Becca was the only child in her nursery school class who did not get chicken pox.
And my youngest sister had chicken pox as an adult. It was not pretty …
Clearly I believe in vaccines.
I never thought vaccinating your children could be viewed as a political act. I thought it was just science.
We live in strange times.
But I’m really getting tired of the political ads. Election Day can’t come soon enough.
After Election Day we can all focus on what’s really important: Wicked For Good.
Seriously, though, I am looking forward to the movie. I loved the first movie. I’ve seen the Broadway production twice, so I know what’s going to happen in the new movie, for the most part. I’m sure there will be some changes. I’m sure it will be wonderful.
