sigh...
The restaurant business has been hard hit by the pandemic...outdoor dining, social distancing, expanded take-out menus, labor shortages...We've seen so many of our favorites close forever...
Drew and I are going to the Renaissance Faire tomorrow. We go every year. The Faire is in Tuxedo, NY, it takes about an hour and a half to drive there from Long Island.
And every year, before we go to the Faire, we have breakfast in the Orange Top Diner. Very retro, stepping into the diner is like stepping back in time to the 1970's. But the food is amazing.
Or rather, the food was amazing. The diner closed in February.
Sigh.
On our recent short vacation, we saw so many restaurants cutting hours or days of operations, or begging for help (i.e. workers shortages), on Facebook. We've lost a number of businesses (including at least two restaurants that operated for 30 or 40 or more years) since the pandemic started. Sadly, I don't think we've seen the end of this.
ReplyDeleteVery sad. So many great places are shutting down. Around here, too.
