Music Monday
And it's a "your choice" week...
It's 1986. Reagan is President of the United States. You can buy a brand new Ford Mustang for $7,452, and a jar of peanut butter sells for $1.89. There was the disaster at Chernobyl and the space shuttle Challenger exploded. The Oprah Winfrey Show premiered that year. We were watching Night Court, Growing Pains and Designing Women. Top movies included Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Top Gun, Platoon, and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. You could play with Barbie, Teddy Ruxpin, or Transformers.
And you could watch MTV and see all these great videos.
Hope you enjoyed this little step back in time!
Robin,
ReplyDelete1986 seems like just yesterday. My how the past 35 years just zipped. The price of everything has soared since those days. I remember around 1974 in Home Economics my teacher was talking about inflation and what the projected cost for something would be if it stayed the same when we're adults. She gave some examples of what things would cost one was a gallon of milk, at the time was less than $2 , with a price of $5. I thought that was ridiculous and that would never get that high. I was partly right. It took it longer than predicted but some brands around here are very close to it and I'm sure in other parts of the country it is $5 or more. The thing about the 80s is the entertainment was top of the chart quality. You picked some great classics from the decade. I liked how you focused you gave us a look at things from a given year. That was clever and fun. Thanks for hitting the 4M dance floor, my friend. Have a boogietastic week! ;)
1986 was a wonderful year and we liked the mewsic too, Songbirdie🐦Pawkisses for a Happy Monday and week ahead🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteGreat playlist. I loved the Moody Blues back in the day. Recently I bought a turntable and am now building a vinyl collection. You can bet that the Moody Blues will be found in my stack of recordings. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteOkay, what happened to my comment??? I was here and I left a comment and told you how I love Huey Lewis and of course Peter Gabriel. You done a great job girlfriend! YOU TOTALLY ROCK! Now don't steal my comment anybody... cuz I'm watchin' you!!!!
ReplyDelete1986, a year I remember well for various reasons. Have to say that the price of peanut butter hasn't risen as quickly as the price of a new car! I was fortunate enough to see Eddie Money in concert oh, about 15 years ago. I love the song of his you selected. Huey Lewis was so big in the 1980's! And the Moody Blues; I could listen t them all day. I owned several of their (vinyl) albums at one time.
