Saturday 9

Image
Angie Baby Welcome to  Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme! Saturday 9: Angie Baby (1974) Unfamiliar with this week's featured song? Hear it  here .   1) This week's song is a spooky one about a young man who breaks into the bedroom of a troubled girl named Angie. Their encounter doesn't go well and he's never seen again. Though there's been gossip, no one knows for sure what happened to him. Does your town have any scary legends that have been passed down through the decades? I live on Long Island, home of Gilgo Beach and the Amityville Horror.  And...

Feline Friday

Halloween is the only day when cats are as important as they think they are. Mine seem to think they own the house.  Or, at least, the living room.  And the kitchen. And the bedrooms.  And …

More this and that

I hadn’t planned on watching the World Series, but somehow I wound up watching the tail end of last night’s game. It’s not as exciting as when it’s my team, but it was fun.  So yeah, I had chicken pox when I was 4 years old.  My mother used to tell a story about that.  At the time she was a stay-at-home mother, taking care of me and my younger sister (the other two hadn’t been born yet).  Once a week she’d pack up the car and we’d drive to her cousin’s house, then all four of us would spend the afternoon at a bowling alley — my mom and her cousin belonged to a league.   We were driving home from bowling one afternoon when we got a flat tire.  This was before cell phones, of course, and before my mom learned how to change a tire, so we had to walk to a pay phone …After the tire had been changed, I showed my mother a little blister on my finger.  The next day I was covered in chicken pox … and soon after that, so was my sister. That’s why, when my ...

Drew has been under the weather the last few days, some sort of virus.  Duchess, a very empathetic cat, is clinging to him.  When he had Covid back in 2020, she never left his side.   I got my flu shot yesterday. My doctor told me that the shot should protect me all winter.  He said I should wait about a month for the Covid booster, there isn’t much Covid around right now and the shot is only effective for 4-6 months. I always react to the Covid shot, the day after the shot I sleep all day.   Today I read a newspaper article about how the shingles vaccine also helps prevent blot clots, heart attack, strokes and vascular dementia.  Glad I got that one awhile ago.  I still remember how sick I felt when I got the chicken pox, I was four years old … Hurricane Melissa is bearing down on Jamaica … I hope they’ll be ok. It’s  a beautiful island, we were there during our cruise in 2016.  We saw the Green Grotto (a series of caves) and Drew clim...
