To be Jewish in America, 2026 version
In 2017, Proud Boys shouted "Jews will not replace us" as they marched through Charlottesville, Virginia.
Today the anti-zionists are in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, PA. They’ve targeted six Jewish and/or Israeli owned restaurants, shooting “Zios must go.”
Targeted by the far right. Targeted by the far left.
But what they didn’t expect this time: they wanted a boycott but created a Jewish food festival, lines out the door at each of the six restaurants.
And well wishers were encouraged to buy gift cards and donate them to Jewish charities. The restaurants win, the charities win, and the idiots who started this … sorry not sorry.
Targeting small businesses isn’t peaceful protest. Intimidating restaurant owners doesn’t help children in Gaza. Creating chaos in Center City does not address the policies of the Israeli government or help Palestinians.
On the eve of Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass … it’s clear what their intentions were. I am so happy the people of Philadelphia said “Not in our city!”
